Personal Growth and Integration
In 2014 we have implemented two new programs for our individuals - Inclusive Miles Running Club and iPad Tech Club. Both programs were developed to meet the interests of those we serve but also to improve their overall health and well-being. Inclusive Miles Running Club is made of up runners from all ability levels and includes mentor training runners from Roadrunner Club of Toledo. Together the mentors and club members train for 5K races and marathons. To-date they have competed in Pi Run, Glass City Marathon relay team run, Josina Lott Jog & Jaunt 5K, and are registered for the upcoming Starr Spangled Run and Feet on the Street.
The iPad Tech Club was made possible through donations from the Annual Appeal. With the donations we were able to purchase five iPads, protective covers, keyboards, styluses and a locking cabinet for storage. The iPads are being utilized to explore art, sharpen reading and math skills, safely navigate the internet, practice life skills, and much more. A workshop was held in early May to assist in creating resumes for those individuals interested in finding employment within the community. Graduate students from Bowling Green State University were on-site to guide participants through the creation of a cover letter and resume and also practice interviewing skills. This workshop will be repeated in the fall due to the overwhelming demand.
