Recreation Specialist

Josina Lott Residential & Community Services provides living skills for individuals with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities. Currently we are searching for an energetic enthusiastic candidate for our Recreation Specialist Position. This position will report the Recreation Manager and is responsible for Assists in planning organizing, an implementing group and one-on-one recreational activities both in the home and community settings. Assists individuals to recover basic motor functions and reasoning abilities, build confidence and socialize effectively to reduce or eliminate the effects of their illness or disability. Acts as a role model to the volunteers.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in recreation therapy or in a specialty area such as, art, music, or physical education, or a human service related field.
Current Certification in Water Safety is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and with a team approach. Two years experience in developmental disability field, preferred, working in creative arts and leisure activities.
  • Knowledge of motivational techniques and counseling.
  • General knowledge and skill in water safety and swimming.
  • Ability to demonstrate arts and crafts hobby skills.
  • Ability to develop good rapport with the public.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, pictorial, and schedule form.
  • Valid driver's license. Ability to drive company vehicles.

Hours and Pay:

  • 40 hour position
  • 1st shift, varies based on events (some evening & weekend hours)

Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional

Josina Lott Residential & Community Services provides living skills for individuals with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities. This position will report to the Program Director and is responsible for coordinating in-house programs to meet the needs of the individuals they serve. This position will educate employees and the individuals on self-determination so the individuals can be as independent as possible in their daily living activities. This position is responsible for conducting Individual Program Plans (IPPs) on an annual and quarterly basis.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in related field

Qualifications: Minimum 1 year experience in direct care services to adults with ID/DD

Hours and Pay:

  • 40 hour position
  • 10:00am-6:00pm or 11am – 7pm
  • other varied hours, including some weekend hours

Direct Support Professional

Responsibilities for Healthcare Workers include assisting clients with social activities, assisting with dressing, toileting, and bathing, assuring individuals are well groomed, implementing and monitoring the individual's program plan, documenting services provided, and performing bed checks as necessary. Employees must also be comfortable driving up to a 15 passenger company vehicle.

Candidates for third shift must have prior experience working third shift.

Hours and Pay:

1st Shift:

  • 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. M-F
  • 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Saturday / Sunday
  • $10.07 - $11.08 per hour

2nd Shift:

  • 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
  • $10.07 - $11.08 per hour

3rd Shift:

  • 10:30 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.
  • $10.07 - $11.08 per hour

$1.00 per hour shift differential for anyone working 3rd shift hours from 10 pm to 6 am.

Occasional weekends off. Schedules for all shifts will be discussed in more detail during the interview with the manager.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • One year of direct care experience with adults with disabilities preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to pass Adult CPR/First Aid/AED training.
  • Ability to pass drug screen and criminal background check.
  • DSPATHS (Direct Support Professional Advancement through Training and Education in Human Services) Certificate a plus.

Adult Day Services Specialist / Job Coach
The Adult Day Services at River Crossings, operated by Josina Lott Residential & Community Services, aims to raise the standards of personal skill development, community integration and the availability of vocational opportunities offered to people living with developmental disabilities.

We are currently seeking to fill full-time positions of Job Coaches. Responsibilities include supervising and assisting individuals served by Josina Lott in activities and programs as outlined in the individuals’ daily schedules, and assuring active treatment is completed. Employee will also provide transportation utilizing up to a 15 passenger company vehicle.

Shift Time

  • Monday – Friday
  • 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Rate of Pay

  • $11.14 - $12.25 per hour

Job Functions

Licensed Practical Nurse

Josina Lott Residential & Community Services provides services to 33 adults with developmental disabilities in a park-like setting located on 10 plus acres of land. Hours and Pay:

Three (3) 12-hour shifts and One (1) 4-hour shift as follows:

  • 12-hour Shifts: 6:30 am to 6:30 pm
  • 4-hour Shift: 9 am to 1 pm (may vary upon the need)
  • Will work every third weekend and every other holiday

* Employees are paid double time for holidays worked

Primary Duties Include:

  • Providing proper medical services including administration of medication to ensure physician's orders are carried out and the individuals receive proper medical care.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to both medical and non-medical emergencies.
  • Monitors individuals' medical charts for accuracy and compliance of physician's orders.
  • Inventories and orders medical supplies to include medications needed for the individuals served.
  • Educates and trains employees as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities preferred; working in a rehabilitation/hospital setting a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and ability to demonstrate.
  • Ability to follow physician's orders and excellent medical charting a must.
  • Driver's license with an excellent driving record required.
  • Ability to be trained and to pass a driver's test on JLR&CS vehicles, up to a 15-passenger vehicle.
  • Ability to pass drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Proof of a high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with proof of graduation from an accredited nursing school with an Ohio LPN License.
